Summary
The listed building consent half of the Mayfield roller-shutter appeals (see PINS-6010765). Dismissed. The shutter and box would harm the special interest of the Grade II 18th-century terrace. Reversibility "does not overcome the harm that would occur while it is in place" (DL ¶19).
What made the difference
Same as the planning appeal: the security need was unevidenced, and less intrusive alternatives had not been ruled out (DL ¶23).
Policy findings
Policy codes are those of the National Planning Policy Framework (August 2026) unless a development plan is named.
| Policy | Finding | Weight | Note |
|---|---|---|---|
| HE6 | harm | considerable | utilitarian shutter and permanent box harm the special interest of the Grade II building; reversibility given limited weight (DL 15-23) |
